In 1970, Miller Honey Farms opened a new branch in Gackle, North Dakota. Our family business has grown considerably and is now one of the largest beekeeping outfits in North America. Our sister company, "Miller Honey Company" purchases honey (from us and other beekeepers) and packs the honey in Salt Lake City. You can find their honey in Walmart and other retailers in the Rocky Mountain region. If you wish to have honey shipped to you please visit their website at: Millers honey company. . Where the hives are located depends on the time of year.
Feb-March: The almond, plum, and cherry orchards of central and Northern California.
April-June: Half our bees are in beeyards throughout Placer County from Colfax to Lincoln. The other half are in Washington pollinating Apple orchards.
July-October: Once things are too dry in CA we ship our bees (via semi trucks) to North Dakota where they continue making honey throughout the summer.
Nov-Jan: Our bees spend the winter dormant in North Dakota.

The bees make honey from all sorts of floral sources, such as alfalfa, clover, sunflower, canola, and wildflowers, which includes dandelions, lilac and many others. Every day during the honey season we take samples of the honey, we taste them and grade them on a color scale to find the best honey to bottle. All of the honey we bottle comes from clover and alfalfa because of the high quality in the taste.
